Grass Cutting Update – 18th June 2024

As you will be aware, we have had an exceptionally wet spring and early summer across Norfolk and the rest of the country. The unseasonal weather has seen unprecedented grass growth and has made it difficult for us to keep up with grass cutting across the borough. Our teams are currently two weeks behind their usual schedule and we are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. Our teams are working hard and we have put in place new measures to help us catch up, but the increased rain means the grass is longer than usual when it is cut which means it is taking longer to complete. There have also been days when cutting has simply not been possible because the ground is too wet. We are also aware that weeds on some highways – which are sprayed annually – are also growing more quickly because of the weather. Any complaints about roads should be directed to the highways team at Norfolk County Council. Once again, we apologise for the delay in the grass-cutting schedule but please bear with us while we catch up. Hopefully the weather will improve soon and we can get back on track!

Councillor Surgeries
The Winterton Parish Council will no longer be holding surgeries every month.
Surgeries will be held in the Village Hall, as and when required on specific topics.
Full Parish Council meetings provide an opportunity for the community to address councillors about local matters, projects, and to share ideas.

Notice of adoption of the Winterton-on-Sea Neighbourhood Plan
Great Yarmouth Borough Council adopted (made) the Winterton-on-Sea Neighbourhood Plan on 20 April 2022.
The Broads Authority adopted the plan on 18 March 2022. The plan now forms part of the Development Plan for the area and will be used in the determination of planning applications.
The Neighbourhood Plan and the final decision statement can now be viewed on the Council’s webpage at https://www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk/winterton-neighbourhood-plan. The plan and the decision statement can also be viewed at the Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QF during opening hours.
